The Company
Madsen is a new Scandinavian restaurant in South Kensington that opened in October 2008. The 60-cover restaurant serves lunch and dinner 7-days a week, and we have a small private dining room within the premises. The concept is modern Scandinavian cuisine that combines both traditional dishes, as well as, more modern style cooking too. The restaurant is furthermore run on sustainability principles that involve using local suppliers and the vast majority of our products being hand made. The Head Chef, Rene Madsen, is from Denmark and the restaurant is owned and managed by another Dane, Charlotte Kruse Madsen (no relation).
Job Role
We are looking for an ambitious chef who has a minimum of 2 years professional experience from Europe, ideally from the Scandinavian cuisine. You need to be familiar with traditional Scandinavian produce, seasonality and the traditional dishes. You will be asked to run your own section in the kitchen, and you therefore need to be able to take on responsibilities. You also have up-to-date hygiene certificates and a thorough knowledge of hygiene and health & safety laws.It is an advantage to have previous experience from Scandinavia and knowledge of the culture and language. We only consider candidates with a legal right to work full time in the UK.

You enjoy the buzz of working in shifts, and you cope well with working under pressure. However, above all it is about your personality and attitude – you need to be outgoing and open-minded. We are looking for someone who is a team player, who is responsible and punctual and who can bring new ideas to our concept. You will also need to be a good communicator.
What We Offer
Being a new company, we are still growing and developing the concept. We value ideas from the team and through focus and hard work we aim at bringing the best of the Scandinavian cuisine to London. The kitchen team consists of 5 members, including the Head Chef. The team is young, dynamic and active, and we are constantly look for ways to improve the business model by getting advice from customers and the team alike. This is the ideal role for a person who would like to take on more responsibilities and who thinks it could be fun being part of building and developing a new business concept.We are offering a full time position of 45 hours a week with mixed weekend and weekday work. Some late night finishes will be required.For the right candidate we offer a basic yearly salary of up to £19’000, plus tips.
